Norma A. Smith, born October 24, 1926, was the daughter of William and Rosabelle Beckwith Hoffman. She graduated from RFA in 1944. On July 17, 1948, she was united in marriage, for 63 years, to H. Gerald Smith in Rome NY. She was employed by the Rome Trust Bank, and its subsequent mergers, ending in Fleet Norstar with intermittent service for forty four years. Norma was a faithful member of the Church of God and assisted in her husband’s ministry for many years. She was known for her hospitality and being an accomplished pianist and having a beautiful alto singing voice. Norma was also well known for her cooking and baked goods, from peanut butter balls to cinnamon rolls and all kinds of cookies. She is survived by her husband and two daughters, Karen Smith Irey and Sylvia Smith, a son in law, Alan Mac Iver, four grandchildren, Kristine and her husband Marshall Bannister, Kelli and her husband Pat Reed, Sarah Mac Iver and Katrina Mac Iver, two great grandchildren, Karissa and Nathan Bannister, and many nieces and nephews. She is survived by a brother and sister in law, William and Rose Hoffman of Las Vegas, NV and a sister Eleanor Townsend of Rome, NY. She was predeceased by a daughter Valerie Mac Iver, a brother Robert Hoffman, and a sister Joyce Sperry.

The funeral service was held, Friday, September 9th at 10:00 am.
